Lately

Lately | September

Lately September

Starting my mornings with 3 morning pages, 10 minutes of meditation, 2 big glasses of water and a 7 minute workout.

Ending my evenings with stretching, a little bit more meditation and a hint of reading.

Still bullet journalling and loving it for capturing my days, thoughts and to-dos.

Proud of the work I’m doing with the Red Tent Sisters and Guinea Pigging Green.

Obsessed with Spotify.

Drinking a ton of hot water with honey and lemon before bed.

Looking forward to the upcoming film festival, fireworks festival, the leaves changing, and little trips I have planned.

Pleased it’s a 4-day week.

Watching the occasional episode of Gilmore Girls, and getting into the new show produced by Shonda Rhimes.

Using this website whenever I feel like watching a movie (which is rare these days).

Adopting the mantra “Good Vibes Only”.

Bummed about missing a family wedding this past weekend but…

Glad it gave me a chance to talk to my whole family at once and get some funny Snapchat videos sent my way.

Making an effort to eat healthier food that fills me up and gives me lots of energy.

Excited that I can wear a scarf in the evenings but that it’s beautiful and sunny during the day. Basically, the weather has been perfect!

Planning to go back to acro yoga classes this month!

Daydreaming about my yoga teacher training (sometime next year TBD), my trip through South East Asia and my return to Canada. These are all good things so…

Trying not to stress out about timing.

Grateful for my family, my friends, my health and my freedom.

Lately | August

lately august

Frustrated about a knee injury that is throwing a wrench into my training plan.

Reconsidering the 10K race instead of a half marathon.

Annoyed that it would mean changing my goal BUT..

Listening to my body and trying not to be stubborn.

Voice memo-ing my friends back home like it’s my day job.

Giddy whenever I get a voice memo back.

Happy to be back on my schedule of working in the afternoons, but of course

Missing having my evenings free (can’t have it both ways though!).

Feeling a little chill in the air the past few days: it’s turning to Fall!

Drinking coffee twice a week this past month which is a very new development for me.

Loving to wear red lipstick when I go out.

Eating a lot of cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, peanut sauce on everything and Granny Smith apples.

Listening to Taylor’s new song and this hilarious Eminem Punjabi beats mashup. I never said I had good taste in music..

Excited to go surfing again this weekend!

Looking forward to my trip to Seoul next weekend to see the DMZ.

Sleeping better on my recently inherited bed.

Thrilled about making more money than ever from freelance endeavours this month.

Daydreaming quite a lot about the future after my time in Korea.

Itching to go shopping for a back-to-school wardrobe and school supplies despite the fact that this is the second September (second?!?! already?!) that I’m not going back to school.

Wishing I could spend the last gasp of summer in Toronto camping and going to the CNE with my fave people, but..

Making the most of my time here in Korea and I’m still very excited about everything yet to come.

Living in the now as much as I can.

Sending love to my loves back home.

Lately | July

Lately July

Excited about the acro yoga workshop that I’m going to be taking this month, starting tonight!

Adjusting to my early-hours summer schedule at work but really enjoying having my evenings free.

Eating a lot of kimchi-jeon bought at the local grocery store and chimichangas from the local Korean-Mexican place.

Listening to RadioLab (newly discovered to me), Drake, and The 1975.

Reading some awesome summer books and adding so many to my to-read list. Standouts lately: The Vacationers, The Blue Bistro, and Of Mice and Men.

Trying to do a better job of staying in touch with my beloved people back home. Thank goodness for Facetime, Voice Memos, and cheap Skype rates.

Thrilled about the small-but-significant-to-me response I’ve been getting about my shop! One of my photos was mentioned on Yes and Yes last week.

Less-than-excited about the fact that July and August are the rainy season in Korea, and that I am going to have to say goodbye-for-now to one of my very good friends on Wednesday.

Looking forward to trying surfing one of these weekends, taking mini vacations on the long weekends we have coming up, getting acupuncture, enjoying fall in Korea, and making plans for the future.

Feeling grateful, happy, and getting back to normal after some stressful weeks.

P.S. I know it’s not July anymore, but these “Lately” posts are just meant to summarize my life during a particular time, and this post is pretty indicative of how I was feeling all through July and early August.

Lately | June

Lately JuneExcited I was able to see a stunning coastal temple this morning before I had to go to work.

Resolving to get out more in the mornings instead of always saving my excursions for the weekend.

Becoming a regular at a few great restaurants + bars in my neighbourhood (for Busanites: Artista and Thursday Party).

Planning my summer vacation – I’m thinking Japan!

Eating a lot of homemade summer rolls for dinner (I’ll share my recipe on the blog next week), scrambled egg wraps for lunch, and a lot of raw veggies in between.

Drinking the delicious-but-potent Long Island Iced Teas at our local watering hole, and lots of water the rest of the time.

Excited about trying cheesy pajeon, our upcoming trip to Jeju island, all the books I’ve been adding to my to-read list, and getting to teach cute little kids starting from next week.

Running at the local track and slowly increasing my distance – yay!

Brainstorming for a new creative (ad)venture. Stay tuned!

Watching Masterchef and Masterchef Australia because they’re both back on, hallelujah! My favourite time of year.

Daydreaming out loud about plans for after my year in Korea.

Listening to my favourite podcasts most of the time instead of music. Any song recommendations?

Relieved that most of the stress involved with switching schools seems to have passed so that now I can just focus on enjoying my long summer days and nights.

Making use of the open rooftop terraces on nearby buildings for gatherings and late night yoga alike.

Wondering how it’s already Wednesday, and how it’s already the last week of June.

Grateful for emails from family, long talks with good friends, and the fact that I’m back to feeling positive and excited about the rest of my year in Korea after a brief period of negativity and stress.
