Lately: January 2016

Lately January >> Life In Limbo

Here’s what I was doing in January:

Watching Suits for the first time, and some of the Oscar Nominees.

Using the 1 Second Everyday app, and loving it.

Learning this Where They From choreography.

Finishing the Brilliant Beautiful Blog ecourse.

Looking for the light.

Buying a Photoshop CC membership and that dance tutorial to spark joy.

Listening to Happier with Gretchen Rubin and the Every Branch podcast.

Eating a lot of green apples, scrambled eggs on toast, roasted broccoli, and Greek-inspired salad.

Baking these excellent biscuits and this delicious cinnamon bread.

Working often at a café with great coffee and reliable wifi.

Sitting on a doughnut cushion on account of bruising my tailbone while paragliding for the first time (which was so fun!).

Drinking cold brew coffee every morning (so ridiculously easy) made in my new coffee maker (my December spark joy purchase).

Feeling a little anxious, but also hopeful and grateful for my life.

Lately: October 2015

Lately October >> Life In Limbo

Living in Quito, Ecuador.

Settling into a new apartment and routines in a new place.

Watching the last season of Masterchef US and Hannibal.

Reading Brené Brown + Elizabeth Gilbert.

Hosting yoga in the park on Saturday mornings.

Teaching a few private yoga classes too!

Updating my archives page and my food + drink page to be more visual and beautiful!

Drinking a ton of smoothies and juices.

Going for walks to the park as much as possible.

Recording music with my boyfriend at home.

Making our own coconut milk from scratch.

Eating delicious new things like pan de yuca and Ecuadorian ceviche, and my weight in fresh grapefruits.

Working on a new campaign for the Red Tent Sisters.

Introducing my boyfriend to my friends and family through the magic of Skype.

Planning our trip back to Canada for this Christmas.

Adoring all the mountains around our new home.

Finding wisdom from Journey to the Heart every morning before meditating.

Trying to cultivate my meditation practice and stay focused.

Feeling like I’m doing a better job of staying in touch with my loved ones this time abroad.

Grateful for this season of my life and all the love I have.

Lately: August 2015

Lately August >> Life In Limbo

Enjoying the peace & quiet of my mom’s house in the forest and lots of bonfires.

Listening to a lot of Happier, Magic Lessons, and The Lively Show.

Waiting (impatiently) for Serial season 2 and for visas to get approved.

Watching episodes of Luther.

Reading Tana French, Elin Hilderbrand, and this beautiful stack of great books.

Wanting to read Big Magic and Rising Strong.

Eating a lot of these tacos, peaches, home-grown yellow cherry tomatoes and these veggie hot dogs (the apple sage kind).

Doing my flossing and meditation every day.

Working on product photos for the Red Tent Sisters, new episodes of the podcast, and my posture, always.

Loving on the library, going for walks, being around my family, reading in an armchair, and the power of Skype.

Thrilled to be seeing my friends again, in Toronto and more recently in New York! Yay!

Trying to move more, be less reactive, and be more intentional about my relationships.

Embracing uncertainty + the next stage of my life’s adventure. (This is very hard).

Practicing gratitude every day.

Lately | February

This is a snapshot of what my life was like in February 2015. You can see all my Lately posts here.

Lately February >> Life In Limbo

Burning a purple candle a sweet friend brought me back from Israel a long time ago.

Reading Station Eleven and Sense & Sensibility, and planning to read the rest of Jane Austen’s oeuvre.

Listening to Invisibilia, Bleachers, The National, Guapo of the Saints.

Drinking coffee with soy milk a lot more regularly and a delicious honey lemon tea a friend gave me as a gift for Seollal in the evenings.

Throwing things away pretty mercilessly after reading this book about tidying up.

Eating a lot of meals out at restaurants: BAT sandwiches, dak galbi, Mexican and Indian. We had time off work so all we did was eat and spend time with friends.

Donating this month to Care’s lockbox program to help communities start their own village lending and saving program.

Buying lots of things for travelling, including Saltwater sandals, this headlamp and this travel towel (if those last two ever ship out, that is).

Watching (still!) Gilmore Girls, and the occasional Oscar movie, same as last month.

Editing a lot of videos and podcast episodes.

Enjoying the mildest winter I’ve ever had and trying to be outside in the sunshine as much as possible.

Loving looking back at my gratitude journal entries for February as I write this post.

Saying goodbyes to friends here as they move on to other chapters.

Dancing a lot.

Counting 34 days until I leave Korea. What?

Appreciating my apartment, my life here, my loved ones, my next chapter.
