Big fan of these gifs to encourage us to take some deep breaths. Also a big fan of the artist’s Instagram account – I laugh at his cartoons daily.

Say thank you, appreciate people, be humble, leave a legacy.

Productivity tips for all the Enneagram types. Lol, but also: helpful!

I linked to this in one of my blog posts this week, but I am re-sharing it here because it’s Plastic-Free July! Very inspired by this post about plastic-free iced coffee.

Wandering Aimfully is building a Squarespace website and brand from scratch this month and it’s a fascinating project. I am so inspired by how their brains work! Loved the videos about creating a brand colour palette & logo.

These were some fun tips for making your Instagram stories prettier!

In case you missed them, this week’s daily blog posts: Obvious Solutions, Simple Joys, Small Zero-Waste Shifts, and On Having Ideas.

How was your week, friends? I had a beach picnic and went to a beautiful al fresco concert in a gorgeous ravine backyard, so mine was wonderful. Business has been good this week too, there is a lot going on but it is all good things so I’m excited about that too. This weekend I’m planning to enjoy one of our many free outdoor pools here in Toronto, and am lucky enough to get to see the Season 11 RuPaul tour with my lovely friend Laura! Omg! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

I love reading perspectives like this one. It’s SO IMPORTANT to remind ourselves that bigger ≠ better.

Dense Discovery of my favourite newsletters, but this week I particularly liked Kai’s intro, about “how to build up your audience” – a question I get like 5 times a week. His answer was exactly right, as far as I’m concerned.

Sarah re-shared an older article to her newsletter last week that really got my gears turning. YES to making fewer decisions! I feel like I could establish more of these in my life.

I read Normal People this week in basically one sitting. Not surprised it was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize! I liked it wayyyy more than Conversations with Friends.

In a world of bad news, I am inspired by the new podcast Solvable, which talks about big thorny issues that are, actually, solvable. I haven’t listened to all the episodes, but I particularly liked this one on homelessness.

Speaking of Malcolm Gladwell, Revisionist History (one of my all-time faves) is back, baby! Wherein our fearless host & his cunning assistant take the LSAT. So good.

This week’s daily blog posts from yours truly: Who Are You Doing a Favour? (Again), Leave Things Better Than You Found Them, Stick It Out, and On Re-Reading.

In case you missed it, my business newsletter came out this week! Even if you don’t have a small business, I try to pack it full of interesting tips & recommendations. You can subscribe here.

Another week has come and gone and it is finally properly summer here in Toronto! We have sunshine and muggy heat and I am happy as a clam. My personal rule is that I can never complain about the heat, because I can’t help complaining about the winter. Anyways, I’m planning to take it easy this weekend and enjoy all the patios & parks that Toronto summer has to offer. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

My friend Rebecca just launched a service that sends daily style prompts to your phone. So cool! And her branding is always so on point.

My friend Laura and I went to hear Fredrik Backman in conversation with Heather Reisman this week and it was an interesting talk. He seems like such a thoughtful and considerate man. I highly recommend his Beartown series!

I enjoyed this conversation on Hurry Slowly with Jenny O’Dell about her new book ‘How to Do Nothing’, and why we should do more of it.

If you, too, are late to the Billie Eilish party, I found this profile of her fascinating. And weird.

Sonja sent me this story, Who Packs Your Parachute?, which I found very moving. There’s such humility in doing a task perfectly every time when you’ll never know if it worked and you’ll never be thanked.

On my business blog this week I wrote about how to motivate yourself (as an entrepreneur or human!) by knowing your Four Tendencies type.

This week’s blog posts: On Resilience, Super Seven, Zero-In Time and Desire to Be Done.

Summer has officially come to Toronto, and it’s been so beautiful so far! I’ve been spending tons of time outdoors at the park and down by the water and soaking up all the sunshine I can. So thankful for patio season and picnic season and long lingering sunsets season! This weekend is a long weekend here in Canada (happy birthday to us!) but I’m mostly staying put, spending some quality time with the family dog, hopefully doing a lot of reading, and enjoying some fireworks. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

Ask Polly is the hero we all need! I loved this column, “Men Always Disappoint Me.”

I liked this article on things that are “worth the money” according to Ramit Sethi. I may not agree with all of his choices, but I like the thought experiment of figuring out what’s worth the money for me specifically.

I liked this older post that Sarah shared on her newsletter this week – the advice is still just as relevant as ever! “I figured out what I wanted. Then I stopped doing dumb ish that moved me further from goal. Once I’d stopped doing self-defeating stuff, I started doing things that brought me closer to what I wanted. That’s it.”

Talk about a dream proposal! At one of my fave bookstores, no less!

Paul Jarvis charged $20 to ask him anything, and then he shared the answers publicly in a video that was jam-packed full of good free advice.

Very into this public health initiative of putting sunscreen dispensers in parks here in Toronto! So smart and handy – I could have used one a couple times this summer already.

Daily blog posts from this week are here! Actions Speak Louder Than Words, On Buying Books, Easy Joys, and Forest Office.

This week on the podcast, I’m talking about the strategies I’m using to establish my new habit of blogging every weekday!

Thursday already?! The weeks are FLYING lately, which I’m taking as a good sign. The weather is getting nicer, I am spending more time outside, I am seeing my friends and family more, I am happier all around. I am also loving my daily blogging! Already I am feeling motivated intrinsically by the rewards of feeling more tuned in, more aware, and more satisfied. I love having a daily writing practice and I’m sad it took me this long to create one. This weekend I’m looking forward to BBQs, outdoor movies, and beach picnics. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.
