I love this song, I love Queer Eye, and I love watching people do what they do best. And obviously I cried, duh. Watch it here!
An important reminder about what white privilege really means, from Rachel Cargle.
On the podcast this week, Jocelyn K. Glei is talking about the stickiness and agonizing slowness of transformation, and why acknowledging those realities matters.
In her newsletter she also brought my attention to this article by Ann Friedman! It’s a few years old now but still just as relevant. Love the reframe that how women speak is not actually a problem to be solved.
Loved this guy’s advice to his younger self (scroll down to “Advice to a young me” and really resonated with his method of keeping costs low so that he could work on exactly what he wanted.
Liked this important reminder from Paul Jarvis that what you currently charge is not a reflection of your worth as a human being. It’s a reflection of your skills and what the market can sustain.
Hot tip: if you ever feel intimidated by someone, try scrolling all the way back on their Instagram account, or putting their website into The Wayback Machine. It is so, so effective at re-humanizing them and reminding yourself that you can evolve & improve.
It has been such a great week, with the exception of the horrifying snow/hail/horrible weather situation we are having as I write this. It’s April, people! Why do you do this to me, Canada!?! This weekend I am helping out at a sold-out Harvest Table Dinner celebrating Worker Bee Supply, having a book club meeting, and attending a fun brush calligraphy workshop! And hopefully starting to do my taxes…wish me luck! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.
