This week I’ve been reading Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport and I am loving it. His blog is great too.

I watched Russian Doll this week and wow, was it catchy. All I knew going into it was that Gretchen Rubin had talked about it enthusiastically on her podcast and I was not disappointed! Trailer here if you want to know the basic premise.

One million obsessed with this Lizzo song. Whenever I’m obsessed with a song I listen to it on repeat for days, so this has been the soundtrack of my week.

SuperPay looks like a very handy way to request payment if you don’t want to set up a big fancy system. (Also added to The Appothecary!)

Great thoughts from James Clear here on making priorities true priorities. Best quote is the last line: “The most dangerous distractions are the ones you love, but that don’t love you back.”

Over on my business blog this week, I’m sharing how I recently broke down a big project into bite-sized pieces I could actually accomplish.

In case you missed it, this week on the podcast I’m talking about strategies & reminders-to-self to use when you’re having one of those slow, sluggish days.

This week’s gone by in a blink! Last weekend I was feeling dejected about the weather and crazy tired, but the warmer temperatures and sunshine the last couple days have perked me up a bit. I am so excited about my masterclass next week at Make Lemonade (still a couple spots left!), especially now that I’ve finished the content. I also stayed up far too late this week finishing my re-read of the last Harry Potter book – still so good after so long! Better than I remembered. This weekend I’m heading out of town (yay!) to a farmhouse with approximately 20 dogs, aka paradise. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend too! xo.

I’m always obsessed with Goodreads’ list features, so I am enjoying working my way through their Summer Reading guide and saving practically all of the books to my own TBR. I found these best-selling authors’ reading lists particularly fascinating.

LOVED this episode of Akimbo on being supple and resilient in business in a changing world. So good!

Well this is very cool! A website created to promote accessibility in the fashion industry through in-depth product descriptions and more photos of clothes being worn in various positions.

I am ever-inspired by Austin Kleon and how committed he is to a life of noticing and creativity. This exploration of revisiting old notebooks made me want to a) keep better notebooks and b) revisit them more often. So fascinating.

This week I’ve been taking part in Rebecca Jacobs’ Liberate Your Style Challenge which has been fun and, well, challenging!

In case you missed it, this week the podcast is back with an interview with one of my favourite thinkers & teachers, Sarah Von Bargen. I gained so much wisdom from her through this conversation.

I’m thrilled to be teaching a masterclass at Make Lemonade called Do More in Less Time on May 23rd! It’s such an awesome coworking space and I’m excited and honoured to be teaching there.

It’s been a somewhat stressful week, my friends! A couple people close to me had unexpected surgeries & hospital visits, which has been scary. But I also celebrated my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary with my family, which was lovely, relaunched the podcast, and enjoyed the sunshine this week. It’s still a little chilly, but at least we have sun! And dressing up every day as a part of the style challenge I mentioned above has been a welcome change, too. This weekend I’m hoping to make a dent in my reading stack and spend some time with my family. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

Some excellent tips here about how to use your phone less, but better. Some of these I was doing, but some were new and my phone is more efficient already!

A few hopeful facts about Notre Dame cathedral that made me feel a bit better. There are always bright spots in dark times!

When I was in the States over the weekend, I watched Shrill, a fictional series written by Lindy West, based on her book. It was so good! I think if you’re a Crave subscriber in Canada, you can watch it here as of this month.

This was a massive butt-kicker of an article and I’m happy to report I haven’t hit snooze on my morning alarm once this week (usually a very bad habit of mine). I never snooze emails as he’s writing about, but the principle is the same for alarms too.

Why and how to say more of the word NO, which James Clear calls “the ultimate productivity hack” and I tend to agree.

I have explored this website not at all, but it looks AMAZING. Look at all the good free stuff on the internet!  Movies, courses, books, audiobooks, etc.

Visiting the “Harry Potter library” at Cornell last weekend reminded me that I probably have a lot of good literary sight-seeing in my own city too! I liked this article with book-related tourism I can do at home.

This week completely flew by yet again! Last weekend in Ithaca was really special, you can read more about my trip on Instagram here and here. And then this week I was mostly absorbed in talking about and working on my masterclass at Make Lemonade, a coworking space here in Toronto. On May 23 I’ll be teaching a class called Do More In Less Time, and I’m so excited (and nervous) about it! The weather has been almost entirely cold and rainy this week, but at least the flowers are popping up and the blossoming trees are about to explode, so I’m thrilled. This weekend it’s my grandparents’ 60th anniversary party so I’m looking forward to spending time with family. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

I discovered the podcast Going Through It with Ann Friedman this week and am a big fan! I love her style of interviewing and the stories I’ve listened to so far (Glennon Doyle & Antje Danielson) have been fascinating. Can’t wait to listen to the Hillary Clinton one!

In general, I would agree with this advice. But I would also amend it to say: unfollow anyone who makes you feel bad in any way. I liked this post on a similar note this week too.

I really loved this episode of Akimbo about the magic of inconvenience. “Convenience is the enemy of (pizza) quality.”

Reminder to artists & creatives & humans: give yourself a decade.

As somebody who is interested in finding a signature scent but is a total n00b to that kind of thing, I enjoyed this advice about how to do so.

I was excessively delighted by this adorable book with the best drawings and some surprisingly great advice!

Rebecca Jacobs is doing an Instagram challenge called Liberate Your Style, and it should be fun! I did her last one and really enjoyed it. Details here.

In case you missed it, I wrote about how to choose the next good idea to pursue (in your business or otherwise!) on my business blog this week!

By the time you read this, I will be in Ithaca, New York! One of my very best friends lives in NYC, so we decided to meet up halfway and spend a long weekend together. We plan to eat great food, explore the nearby waterfalls, check out the farmer’s market, go hiking near the grottoes, read some books, and talk non-stop for three days straight! I can’t wait. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.
