030: Keep Going

The Life In Limbo podcast is about building a life you love on the foundation of what’s most important to you. Each week I chat with an interesting person or share my own ideas in order to explore about how we can stay connected to our personal values, measure what matters most to us, listen to our own voices, and create a life we enjoy. 030: Keep Going >> Life In Limbo

Today’s episode is the last one of season 3 of the podcast! Can you believe we’re here already? I sure can’t, this year is flying. On the show today I’m talking about motivation – specifically, the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and why it matters. I’m also sharing thoughts on how we never know who is listening or resonating with what we share, why that’s okay, and why it’s our responsibility to do the work anyways. Happy listening & thank you so much for being along on this journey with me! Talk to you soon.

I liked these thoughts on how we can energetically protect ourselves from things that drain our energy, whether or not you identify as a woman (the author’s target audience).

This week I read My Sister, the Serial Killer, and it was delightful..in a weird sort of way. I am still not sure how I feel about the ending!

Next up on my business reading list is this short, free book from the founder of Freshbooks, Breaking the Time Barrier.

I think I’ve found a new, cool newsletter to subscribe to! I like the format of Recomendo. (On my newsletter email, of course).

Thinking of starting a newsletter of your own? Great thoughts here on starting a good one, from the writer of one of my fave newsletters.

I found this article from one of the founders of Joe Beef totally fascinating. In it, he shares his story of getting sober, recovering from a life of excess, and how it changed his business. Very human.

Interesting podcast episode about some of the energy themes we’ve been dealing with over the last few months, and what to lean into for the rest of 2019.

In case you missed it, this week on the podcast I’m talking about the concept of conducting experiments in your business and life! Also: next week’s episode will be the last of Season 3.

Also from me: this week on my business blog I’m sharing three of my favourite ways to unsubscribe from spammy email lists that you just can’t seem to get off of! Read it here.

The wonderful illustration above is by my friend Kate Smalley based on something I said on episode 28 of the podcast!

We got yet another snowstorm here in Toronto, so suffice it to say that I’m thrilled it’s officially March. Hopefully that means this eternal winter is finally coming to an end soon! In the meantime, I’ve been working on sharing more on Instagram stories, building my Inbox Zero course and getting excited about some of the opportunities coming this Spring. So fun! This weekend I am planning to rest up, read some good books, and stay as warm as possible. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

029: It’s All An Experiment

029: It's All An Experiment >> Life In Limbo

This week on the podcast, I’m talking about how I try to use the concept of conducting experiments as a way to explore new ideas for my life and business. Instead of trying to figure everything out beforehand, there’s so much freedom in the idea that we can figure it out as we go along, and that the end product will actually end up being even better as a result!

I liked this tip for how to take a clean screenshot of any YouTube video! There are so many moments in my past where this would have come in handy.

GREAT thoughts here from Seth about how we can de-escalate anxiety by choosing our words and tone more carefully. What story are you telling? What results is that having?

Wandering Aimfully is one of my favourite businesses to watch, because I think they’re up to cool things. I really liked their recent podcast episode about improving your time management skills.

I really liked this list of signs of emotional maturity. It felt reassuring and true and solidly helpful. I want to keep these concepts as a North Star.

I’m currently reading Company of One by Paul Jarvis, and I was really inspired by his interview on the Hurry Slowly podcast about the book.

I am obsessed with the concept of this app which lets you create tutorials with photo instructions. I haven’t used it yet but it has been downloaded, and I can see how useful it’ll be in so many areas of my life from household tasks to business tutorials.

In case you missed it, on my podcast this week I’m talking about the concept of positive illusions and how I’m working to re-assess some of my own.

Friday already?! The weeks are passing quickly again, which I take as a good sign – I have more energy back and am feeling more balanced. I’m taking the time to cook for myself again which feels like a win, and I took time off last weekend to be with my family for Family Day here in Ontario. Still keeping busy though! I’m hard at work at my new Inbox Zero 101 online course, and I released my Dropping In Questionnaire this week and it’s gotten a great response so far! This weekend I’m giving myself permission to rest and putter, and hopefully soak up some sunshine if we’re lucky enough to get any. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.
