Inspiration September 8 >> Life In Limbo

The beauty and bravery and love in this post is off the charts. I read it twice.

I made this summer tomato pie for dinner at my mom’s the other day and it was delish. Thanks, JTB!

Also this week, I signed up for Toronto’s bike share program! I’ve happily used Bixibikes in Montreal and Citibike in NYC, and thought this would be a great way to love where I’ll be living (a la this book).

Ways to feel happier + calmer in 10 minutes. After reading, I promptly lay down, did feet up the wall pose, and felt better.

Simple-but-awesome tips for maintaining (or beginning) healthy habits.

Some thoughts to think before jumping into a heated conversation. Important stuff.

I re-read this great post this week and it was still so helpful.

I didn’t do much online reading this week, but I spent a lot of time with my mom’s golden retriever puppy and finished three books, so I’m okay with it. This weekend, I get to see a good friend I haven’t seen in person in two and a half years!! Even writing that out, I can barely believe it’s been so long. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend too. xo

If you’re not following Elizabeth Gilbert’s posts on Facebook, I suggest you do it now! I even set it up so I see her stuff at the top of my newsfeed, which has been amazing. This is one of my favourite posts she’s ever written, on having the “wrong” emotion: “We are complex and unique and perfect and true, and there is no one way to feel.” I love this so much, I can’t even tell you.

You hereby have permission to do the hard thing. (Hint: this is not always selling your possessions and moving abroad – sometimes, that’s the easier thing.)

How great is this idea for an easy, lovely birthday tradition?

I’m resolving to use a piece of my day for cultivating peace of mind. I like these simple ideas.

It can be so hard to know how exactly to help when someone is getting harassed in some way. This guide is designed for helping when encountering Islamophobia, but it’s a wonderful technique for any kind of awful social encounter.

Recently I’ve been loving videos from the Clean My Space Youtube channel. They’re well produced and super helpful, and it’s nice that they’re based in Toronto (my new home!). I didn’t think I would be into learning about cleaning…but I am?

Life has felt (and been) a bit overwhelming lately, so coming back to my little routines like these weekly posts is a nice way to stay grounded. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I am rarely creative when my life is in flux (or in limbo, if you will) – it’s only when I start to feel settled that I feel like making, writing, and taking photos. Yet another reason I’m excited to stay put for awhile!

This weekend I’m helping my sister move into a new apartment, seeing friends, and hopefully hanging out with my mom’s new golden retriever puppy. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

I basically love everything that Jennifer Gilbert has ever written, and this post about her marriage is no exception. I am still holding out a secret hope that she will re-start her blog!

Some gymnastics inspiration for you! You go, girl.

I watched Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru on Netflix and it definitely made me cry. I also think his recent interview with Marie Forleo is worth a watch – I personally got a lot out of it.

Very exciting discovery of the week: my library card now allows me to read brand-new magazines (plus back issues) for free on an app called Zinio! Definitely worth checking out whether your local library offers something similar.

I think these letterpress prints are so cool and I can’t wait for mine to arrive!

It was a quiet week around here for the most part. I’m still battling a cold that won’t quite quit, so I had a lot of slow days working, reading, and taking evening walks down in the ravine or to the library. Truthfully, those are my favourite kind of days. This weekend, it’s my sister’s birthday and…my mom’s getting a golden retriever puppy! Yippee!! I will definitely be posting photos galore to my Instagram story, so stay tuned for that. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

I think this is such an interesting and freeing perspective to take when it comes to clothes. It inspired me to want to do the same.

I can’t believe that I hadn’t heard of Glennon prior to a post by Elizabeth Gilbert earlier this week, but I was blown away by her clear, honest writing on such a sensitive topic. I can’t wait to explore her site more and check out her books.

Speaking of Elizabeth Gilbert and clear, honest writing…this rings so, so true for me right now.
