Steph Loves Autumn

Mosaic 2

A couple months ago, I shared some of the photos I’d been taking throughout the summer and posting to Instagram with the hashtag #stephlovessummer. When the seasons changed, I changed the tag to #stephlovesautumn and have been happily posting there ever since.

I’ve definitely been posting less over the last few months. As I mentioned in the last post, I’ve been trying to go for quality over quantity when it comes to posting my photos. I now no longer post anything taken on my iPhone, only “big camera” pictures. I tend to like those better.

I know it sounds like a bit of a strange thing to say, but I’m actually quite proud of my Instagram feed lately, and by extension of my photography. I love having the motivation to take the most beautiful photos that I can, and to be able to share that beauty with other people. Living in Korea has been amazing for many reasons, one of them being the absolutely stunning things I’ve been lucky enough to see. Korea has more than its share of natural beauty and I feel so excited to capture it on film and share when I can. (Well, not literally film, although I have been feeling a hankering to have a film camera after seeing the photo series from Tara and Elise. I’m thinking of offering to buy my Dad’s off him..haha.)

Safe to say, I am still absolutely loving taking and sharing photos. I don’t see that changing anytime soon, although I want to try to take more photos of people and food than I have been. When you have such beautiful outdoor subject matter, you forget about everything else. Stay tuned for Steph Loves Winter… (Spoiler Alert: Steph loves every season).

Inspiration November 7

I had a few different obsessions this week. One of them was itinerary ideas for a 2-month-ish trips to South East Asia, which was so fun to research. This article was awesome, although I probably wouldn’t follow his recommendations to a T. This other great article gave more flexible suggestions and lots of practical information.

Of course if I’m back on trip planning, I have my spreadsheet started and my packing list on the go (another of this week’s obsessions). I really liked this packing list for a round-the-world trip, and this one for digital nomads. This one was awesome too (and very detailed).

I think momondo is my new favourite website for finding cheap, short flights.

Since I live in Korea and see couples in matching outfits all the time, I thought this video explaining the phenomenon was fascinating and really well done.

The new A Beautiful Mess shop is so cool! I love all their new products.

I would love some squash toasts right about now.

This article about being a tourist in North Korea was fascinating.

I picked up some interesting ideas from this mini tutorial about editing photos on your phone.

I was strongly considering doing the teaching assistant program in France this week, and this blog post was quite a help while I was researching the whole thing. As it stands now, I don’t think I’ll do the program (though still may move to France!) but the article was helpful anyways.

There are so many exciting things on the horizon it’s hard to keep them all straight in my head. As my mom says, I have a hamster brain at the moment, the wheels are always turning a thousand times a minute and new ideas are popping in all the time. It’s crazy how quickly I am running through things and switching off from one thing to the next. I’m excited it’s Friday. I’m happy for the weekend. Have an amazing one yourself!

November Goals

November Goals

Some new goals for a new month! #makeitpublicmakeithappen

How’d I fare last month? Pretty well. I got 10,000 steps almost every day, and it was so great to have that “excuse” to get outside in the evenings for an extra walk around the block. I did not run anywhere close to 60KM (more like 20) but I did read around 9 books so that gives you some idea of what I was doing with my time. I considered this piece a love letter to my mom. I booked our Airbnb in the Philippines for Christmas holidays! I wrote for another site, I fixed my ad, I bought a disposable camera.

This month I want to make use of my YogaGlo membership. I want to make some new recipes. I want to save lots of money and read lots of books. I want to get my ducks in a row to apply for a program I’m really excited about. And most of all (and scariest of all, sort of), I want to get laser eye surgery! It’s something I’ve been thinking about doing for a long time and it’s relatively cheap here in Korea. I have a few friends who have gotten it done here and are thrilled with the results.

I’m leaving some space on the list for goals that might come to me as the month goes on. What are your goals for November?

You can see my October goals here.

October Faves + Wishlist

Wishlist October

1. e.l.f. All Over Stick in Pink Lemonade 2. H&M Chelsea boots 3. ONA The Lima Camera Strap 4. 8 Seconds Graphic Tee 5. Gap Denim Vest 6. GoPro Hero 3 7. Kate Spade Heart of Gold Idiom Bracelet 8. Lightroom + Photoshop Creative Cloud 9. iPhone 5s

Just like last month, some of this stuff are things I’ve been loving lately, and the others are things I’m wishlisting. That e.l.f. color stick is such a nice shade of pink – it goes on really bright but blends really well. Plus it costs about $2, somehow. Even though I’m not usually one for writing on shirts, I’ve been wearing that graphic tee nonstop. It’s so soft and cozy and matches well with my denim vest. It’s the first jean jacket-type thing I’ve had since I was a kid and I’m very obsessed. I thrifted mine here in Korea but that Gap one is very similar.

I am thisclose to signing up for creative cloud so that I can experience Lightroom. I was thisclose to buying those boots at H&M this weekend but decided they were too expensive. I’m still on the hunt for something similar. The camera strap that came with my camera (approximately 5 years ago!) has finally started to show its age and is peeling like crazy. I think it might be time to invest in a lovely new one. Also, as I’m starting to plan my trip through South East Asia after my contract’s done here, I’m hearing the siren song of the GoPro. I just think the little bangle is pretty and witty. And of course, an unlocked iPhone 5 (the camera! the speed! the beauty!) will be on the wishlist until the end of the time. I’m still using my uber-slow iPhone 4 (not even S) but don’t use the camera anymore because it’s so awful.

As always, I’m counting my blessings for all the awesome things (both material and not) I’m lucky enough to have in my life. It’s funny, even as I was making this post I was thinking “I don’t really need anything else though, really..” My life is so great as it is.
