Space Cadet

For all of those not yet sold on the whole Twitter idea, (and I know there are a lot of you out there..) I give you something to convert even the most stubborn of all non-believers:

THE SPACE TWEET.

Yes that is correct. Mike Massimino is an astronaut with the STS-125 mission to the Hubble Space Telescope (an eleven day mission said to be the ‘final mission’ to the telescope for repairs). There are seven astronauts on the mission (one woman!) planning to do five back to back space walks in order to repair the telescope, replace parts, etc.

And this Mike Massimino has done the world an awesome service by agreeing to tweet from space. Personally, this is the ultimate in star-watching (pardon the pun) since one can follow Ashton Kutcher and Larry King all one likes, but there will never be anything cooler in my books than the undiscovered frontier..nothing cooler than people who get to go to space. It’s incredible!

So far, there have been tweets about getting ready, being up in space, and eating grapple..I am looking forward to finding out what else exactly they do out there. Throwing the juice in the air til it forms into little balls? Floating around doing handstands on the ceiling? Eating liquid food? Strapping yourself to the toilet? The list goes on. Definitely an awesome idea, original and interesting.

Awesome Things

I’ll try to avoid being repetitive in future, but when I love something, I love it.

Today I am excited by one of my favourite websites, and felt like sharing it (multiple times through twitter, blogging and facebook, but no matter. :) )

It is a wonderful website that just blogs about everyday things that are just so..AWESOME. There’s no other word for them. They’re things almost anyone can relate  to, and so funny.

Sick Days

A blessing and a curse.

I was home sick today due to an incredibly sore throat combined with a cough and the fact that I wasn’t really doing much at school anyways. It’s been quite nice to relax.

Here’s what I did: woke up late, watched four episodes of The Hills, drank gingerale, had soft-boiled eggs, went on the computer, had fruit salad, wrote a couple notes, didn’t publish them, had a spoonful of honey, tweeted the day away, downloaded firefox, got overwhelmed, had a text war, never got out of my scrubs aka pjs.

Lovely. What do I plan to do the rest of the night? Throw in some firefox addons, watch a movie, read a book, eat food, sleep. So nice playing hooky.

What works for a sore throat? Lots of vitamin C, echinacea, honey, cough drops, apparently gingerale, salt water gargle, and fisherman’s friends. But I can’t bring myself to eat any ff just yet. They taste like crap.

So the blessing part of being sick: sleeping in and chillin.

The curse part: you aren’t allowed to go to the premier of Star Trek with your friends since you were too sick for school. drats ma.

Ah well, lonliness is okay with me.

s.
