The Life Coach School Podcast’s series on Handling Chaos has been really helping me manage my mindset during this wild time we’re living in.

Good advice here about how to be happier – for now, or for anytime.

A series of hopeful facts about the coronavirus that brought my blood pressure down as I read through it.

How to set boundaries around coronavirus, if you need to.

If you’re looking for a good free alternative for the increased video calling you have to do now, I just discovered Whereby and it looks great. Up to 4 people on a call on their free plan.

Alternatively, I have a paid Zoom account and have been using it constantly for hangouts with friends and for work. If I didn’t already pay for it, I would have started this month, since it’s only $20 per month and I find it to be such a good investment during this social distancing time.

I loved this beautiful poem written by my friend Priyanka, which is giving me a boost right now. I also found solace in Wild Geese by Mary Oliver, which I shared part of here.

If you’re working from home now, I put together a list of my 10 best tips for handling that lifestyle change and staying productive at home.

I’m also sharing a lot of resources & ideas for this challenging time to my Instagram stories – you can see all the saved ones right here.

How are you doing? I’m okay. Things feel surreal and confusing, but I’m just trying to take it day by day. It’s lonely living alone and being in social distancing mode, but I’m making sure to talk to people by phone, set up video calls, and take lots of time for reading and walking outside. Not knowing what’s going to happen is overwhelming, but all we can do is try to stay present and manage our minds. I hope you’re staying well and telling your loved ones that you love them. xo.

A lot of my inspiration this week was in-person, rather than online. Starting with the SheEO Global Summit, which I attended Monday. I was floored especially by CV Harquail‘s talk on the feminist economy and Denise Hearn‘s talk on emergence.

I also went to see the ballet thanks to a generous invite from Sonja. It was three pieces (learn more here) and was completely stunning. It was also my first time at a professional ballet! If you have a ballet company in your city, I’d highly recommend. And if you’re in Toronto and are under 29, check out DanceBreak.

I read Mira Jacobs’ book Good Talk in one sitting this week. It’s interesting, impactful, and so beautifully written and designed. She tackles a lot of important topics with grace and humour.

When astrology and Harry Potter mix. Ha!

It was a real joy & honour to get to take part in the Kumvana Fellowship Program through Engineers Without Borders, and work for the day with two Ghanian women entrepreneurs. We got to strategize about some elements of their businesses, and also share about our lives. So powerful & very rewarding. Check out Cecilia’s (new!) website here!

I loved the first episode of Go and See, a new show about Japanese car design from Malcolm Gladwell. If you know me, you know I’m not into cars. It’s just fascinating to learn more about the beautiful complexities of Japanese culture and how those values are worked into the design of a vehicle.

It’s been a BUSY week as you can probably tell. So many things to do, so little time. I’m feeling pretty tired and haven’t been sleeping great, so I’m looking forward to a weekend away in the country! A group of friends and I have rented a little adorable cabin and are going to be reading, talking, and eating delicious food all weekend long. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

I LOVED this advice to “work close to the bottom line.” So smart, no matter what field you’re in, and I really liked her range of examples.

I really really liked the book Burnout by Emily & Amelia Nagoski. Really smart, tangible advice about dealing with stress for modern humans.

Oprah has a new podcast! She’s bringing back some of the best episodes of the original show – and I couldn’t be happier. I grew up watching The Oprah Show every single day after school and I can’t wait to revisit some of the stories that have stuck with me all this time.

Speaking of podcasts, I’ve recently been enjoying this new one I learned about called The Slowdown, which shares a poem every weekday. Hat tip to Rework for mentioning it in their episode about poetry at work!

I found this episode of The Daily about the coronavirus very informative and factual without being fear-mongering.

Nurture: Spring 2020 registrations open this weekend! I’m so inspired by the group of women on the team this time (and every time) and can’t wait for May.

On my business blog this week I’m sharing five companies that really inspire me for the way they bring their values into their businesses!

This week actually did NOT go by in a flash, it was slow for once! After a very busy month in February, I’m finding March to be a lot quieter so far. I kind of need the time to recuperate, so I’m not complaining! This week I spent a lot of time thinking ahead and planning out future projects, exploring new ideas, and just taking it easy. It feels good! This weekend I have some family stuff, and Sonja is taking me on a surprise date which is so fun! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

Excellent advice here from Laura Vanderkam: start by starting. You’ll learn so much from just seeing what happens.

This week I’ve been absolutely loving this song by Billie Eilish. I also really enjoyed this video of her and Finneas explaining their songwriting process. I find them fascinating!

Obviously extremely into this video where Taylor Swift becomes a drag king. SUCH a cool transformation.

Suffice it to say I’ve been ogling the Golden Rescue Instagram account like crazy lately. That’s all I’ll say for now!

I was extremely inspired that the jury voted to convict Harvey Weinstein in the face of complex and nuanced testimony. This was a great recap of the trial.

Had a great and easy time using Turo to book a car for the retreat! Not an affiliate link, it was just super fun to rent a car using their platform.

The most incredible inspiration I experienced this week was working with everyone who attended my first business retreat! I am so very inspired by Amber of Creating Light Studio, Mira Dineen, Kate of Craft Uncommon, Dimple Mukherjee, Mel of Sunday’s Company, Sam of Cobblestone, and Sonja of Nurture Retreats.

I’ve been tired this week post-retreat! I took Monday off, but had a lot of client sessions the last couple of days so I haven’t fully had a chance to recover. But it was such a WONDERFUL experience. I am so happy and can’t wait to see the shifts that happen for everyone who was there. If you want a peek behind the scenes, you can see all the story highlights from the weekend right here! This weekend, I’m hoping to take it easy, do lots of sleeping, a bit of reading, and catch up on the chores I definitely didn’t do all week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.
