Reminder: your local public library probably puts on some really cool (free!) events and talks. I went to one yesterday with CBC host Andrea Bain, who wrote the book Single Girl Problems, and it was a lot of fun.

Revisionist History is back with Season 3! I just find Malcolm endlessly delightful.

In very sad news, my friend Kathryn Bondy of Golden Age Botanicals experienced a tragic fire at her studio this week. Although upsetting, it’s been so beautiful to see how the community has come together around these artists and helped support them. You can learn more here.

I’ve thoroughly been enjoying my Level 2 Facilitator’s course I’m taking through one of the companies I work for, The MEHRIT Centre. Every time I do a module, I have an a-ha moment, and it’s awesome to be starting to translate that knowledge into resources I can share. If you’re curious, check out the recent infographic I made for the course here!

In case you missed it, I interviewed my super-cool friend Or Har-Gil on my podcast this week about making meaning and telling different stories! So fun & so interesting.

Not linkable but no less inspiring, I was so moved by my Grandma’s 90th birthday party this past weekend. She is such a beautiful soul, and I was brought to tears more than once to see her surrounded by the family she’s created, plus her sister & brother-in-law visiting from Wales. It was such a special day that I will never forget. This weekend I have a fun dinner party and then am heading up to the cottage with my sweet man. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

I thought this was a poignant reflection about aging, made even more relevant when I think about my own grandparents.

So happy that Dear White People Season 2 is out on Netflix! I haven’t been able to watch it all yet, but I will always celebrate the return of a smart, funny, and thought-provoking show.

Like most people, I was blown away by Childish Gambino’s new music video. I also liked reading about the context of the video and its messaging.

This week I learned how to send automatic text responses from iPhone when you want to get some focused work done. Revolutionary! This could also work well for those who want to set “work hours” with clients.

“It doesn’t need to be good right now, it just needs to exist.” Good advice for life, writing, starting a podcast, etc. Goes along with one of my favourite mantras, “You can’t steer a parked car.”

Love the idea of having a two column to-do list, one easy and one hard.

I signed up for Sarah Von Bargen’s Bank Boost program this week because holy affordable! I’m excited to catch up on the live call I missed and start saving/making more money with her great methods.

In case you missed it, I released two more episodes of my new podcast! There’s an interview on evolving your sense of identity, and one on opting out.

You probably noticed that there was no inspiration post last week, and that’s because all my websites got hacked and I only got them fixed on Saturday night after a week of stressful days. I was so relieved to get everything back up and running and it feels so great to be writing these posts again. I am looking forward to the weekend – I’m seeing friends and then celebrating my Grandma’s 90th birthday with my whole family! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

You’ve got to find something more interesting than your phone. Amen. I really liked this whole interview.

The case for having six seasons instead of only four!

So far I haven’t had much luck finding the specific quotes I was looking for, but how ridiculously cool is the Google Talk to Books app?!

I always love the book lists from The What, because they read all of the ones they recommend and many more to choose their favourites. Here’s their best fiction for Spring 2018.

I cried on the subway platform listening to this episode of The Daily about the potential reunification of the Korean peninsula and its implications for so many fractured families.

This week I started trying out the simple journalling app Daylio. It reminds you to check in and tell it your mood and what activities you’ve been up to leading up to this moment. Then it can start to point out trends! Definitely interesting and pretty fun.

In case you missed it: I launched my new podcast this week! Take a listen to the introduction episode here. New episodes coming every Tuesday!

I’m feeling particularly frazzled as I write this, but it was a wonderful week overall! Lots of sunshine and being outside, which I desperately needed after so many long months of cold and rain and snow. I am so happy to be able to sit on a patio again and leave the house without a coat on! Work is busy but lots of fun things are happening, which I am grateful for. Looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend ahead. Can’t wait! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

I was lucky enough to see a conversation between Misha Glouberman and David McRaney of You Are Not So Smart this past weekend and left with pages of notes on all the interesting things they discussed. A standout section was about the LA LGBT Leadership Lab and the amazing work they’re doing to help change the world. I plan to watch some of the conversations they’ve had that are up on their YouTube channel to see people’s minds change in real time.

I also saw Mouthpiece this week and oh my goodness. If it’s coming to a city near you, please go and see it. So powerful, so interesting, so many tears, so much talent.

100 ways to be an ally to people of colour. Good, practical, awesome advice!

This is my very favourite thing to do, and I’m so happy that the weather is finally allowing for me to do it again. Thank you to all my phone buddies!

Some of the things that might be missing from your job description but are crucial parts of your job. This reminds me a lot of what Amanda Ashford talked about during her talk for Creative Mornings last week.

Love the idea of creating an internal scorecard for how you choose who to work with. Such a fun (and helpful!) strategy.

I liked this fun and kind of different ice breaker question. My answers would be: 1. Pretending to tap dance/hip hop dance/Irish dance. 2. Writing for social media.

I liked this little productivity guide, and my favourite part was this: Stay on paper as long as possible. Sketch and write things out long-hand, possibly even emails.

One of my clients, With/out Pretend, created a new monthly newsletter that was sent out this week! I’m really proud that I got to be a part of it.

Hi and thanks for reading! This week was a sad one here in Toronto as you may have seen in the news. Gratefully I don’t personally know anyone directly affected by the attack, but it left a mark on all of us. I am sending lots of love and light to anyone who might need it this week. This weekend I’m so thankful I’ll get to spend some much-needed time with my loved ones and soak them in. Life is precious. xo.
