So first “Loves” post. I have to go edit my categories after this. They are all messed up.
Latest Love: Fragrances. I’m totally obsessed. For my 18th birthday, I got Harajuku Lovers Fragrance in Lil’ Angel, which, if you haven’t smelled, is positively angelic. No kidding. For a brief description, here you go:
Harajuku Lovers Fragrances are a special collection of fun, mostly fruity scents, designed by the queen bee herself, Gwen Stefani. There are five different ones: G (for Gwen), Love, Lil’ Angel, Music and Baby. They come in 30 and 10 mL bottles, about $45 and $30 respectively. Each comes with a little plastic doll that acts as a lid for the bottle: totally adorable! Each is styled for the Harajuku girl they represent in Gwen’s stellar clique, and all of them look sweet as sugar. My personal faves are G and Lil’ Angel, just because they have gorgeous notes, all the way to the base. Lil Angel is: “Raspberry, Cranberry, Blackberry, Pineapple, Pear Blossom, Violet, Rose, Lollipop Accord, Hinoki Wood, and Crystal Amber” while G sports “Mandarin, Coconut, Apple Skin, Jasmine Sambac, Freesia, Magnolia, Coconut Cream, White Sandalwood, and Cottonwoods”. Both mm-mm good, for sure. Check out the very-adorable-if-not-slightly-out-of-date-now website below.
Also, it is worth mentioning all my perfume escapades now; I might as well get it over with. Last Monday I went shopping with my fabulous friend, and we tried on some perfume in Sephora while we were there. I had read a little about Vera Wang’s new fragrance, Vera Wang Rock Princess, and tried it on a whim, since I had disliked the Princess fragrance, and definitely liked the sound of the new Rock Princess:
“She’d trade her tiara in for a new guitar, attend a concert instead of the prom—she is Rock Princess, the dynamic new fragrance by Vera Wang. It’s all about the music, the fashion, and the spirit with this edgy yet seductively sweet essence. Each verse is equally captivating in the dark, fruity scent that channels sultry rock-star attitude. It takes the stage with an exhilarating intro of succulent white peach, bittersweet red raspberry, and an illuminating flash of vibrant bergamot. The chorus reveals itself in lovely layers of ultra-feminine florals. Hypnotic heliotrope, vintage-inspired rose, night-blooming jasmine, delicate lily, and an unexpected riff of sharp, spicy accents. The melody bridges to a finale, cloaking the essence in the warm, sensual glow of plush cashmere woods, smoldering musk, elegant iris, and creamy coconut. You will not forget her.”
So I tried her out, and no. I did not forget her. She stayed on all day, many long hours, through sweat and tears, and only came off when I showered late at night. What I liked best was the mild spiciness that seemed to happen around hour three or so. It was unexepected and delicious and I wanted to run back and buy it right then and there. But I restrained myself, god knows why. For more info on my NEXT fragrance, see the stunning photo which follows. It’s even a totally pretty bottle!
Only one more, I swear. So. While we were still shopping around, we stopped into the department store to check out the really high end perfumes, the gorgeous, coveted ones. Chanel especially. There’s something just so glamourous about Chanel, and nobody can deny. We smelled all of them, special emphasis on no5. But guess what? It was a slight disappointment. I’d never smelled it before, she had, we both agreed: not all it’s cracked up to be. It smelled a tad like baby powder to be honest. Not so amazing. Perhaps my palette will develop more with time, and I’ll change my mind on it. But for now, it’s going to be Coco Mademoiselle. Which is positively scrumptious. Immediate happiness upon smelling. Definite love! Talk about it:
“Sexy, fresh oriental fragrance recalls the irrepressible spirit of the young Coco Chanel. Blends of jasmine and rose.”
Anyways, whatever it is, it is gorgeous. One issue: Chanel’s website. Sorry Chanel, it is consistently messing up on me, giving me some odd script instead of photos! What’s the deal? But no worries tadpoles, I have a lovely photolink for you to check out la gorge Coco Mademoiselle. Plus, it’s pink. C’mon.
What a beaut. Anyways, I can’t go into much more detail, or I’ll begin to annoy myself. But I’ll drop a few names of other ones I like, or else I may have to make a whole new post, and that would be tragic. So other ones I like:
For Guys: Lacoste, Old Spice, Caroline Herrera 212 Sexy Men
For Ladies: Calgon Get Juic’d line in Pineapple Coconut or Mango Starfruit, Marc by Marc Jacobs Splash line in Lemon, Tomato or Rain, Stella by Stella McCartney.
I can’t think of any more, thank goodness. SO that’s my fragrance post, but no worries, I’m not a total product dweeb (well, sorta) and I do have other interests. Thankfully.
Peace, S.
