November + December

Here it is, the last video of 2012! I had a really fun time making this one – I loved the music, and getting a chance to look back on all of 2012 was really fun. It helped me realize just how wonderful the year was, even if it didn’t always feel like it at the time.

I don’t know whether I’ll be doing monthly videos this year. I’m happy to not have the goal, it makes me feel freer. So maybe I’ll just do videos whenever I capture moments, when I feel like it.

Either way, I’m sharing it here just for fun. Happy Wednesday!

September + October

Since I’ve had slightly more free time the last few days, post-midterm, I finally got my act together editing the video for the past two months. Sadly, it had to be one of those doubled-up videos, because heading back-to-school meant a lot less fun activities and a lot more sitting around in apartments studying and occasionally drinking some wine.

I’m pretty thrilled that I’ve kept this project up. Even though this is only a 2 minute video, and lots of events from the month didn’t make it in, it’s still a visual memory of this time in my life, and for that it’s important. This was never going to be a perfect project, it can’t ever capture everything. But that doesn’t mean it’s not important to me!

The idea for making the monthly videos came to me randomly, it wasn’t on any list of goals or New Year’s Resolutions. Yet it’s probably my favourite project of 2012. I enjoy making them because watching the people I care about laughing and smiling and dancing makes me happy.

July

How much do I love creating these monthly videos? Answer: a ton.

Like almost all of my favourite pass-times, it’s a creative outlet for me at every stage of the process. I love practicing shooting video, I love editing it together, I love listening to new music all month hoping to find one great song to pull it all together, I love trying to match up moments in video with moments in the song. And I love love LOVE sharing it with people, even those who aren’t in the video. I’m proud of this work, and I’m thrilled I’ve kept up with this project. I didn’t make it a goal for this year, it just came about organically, but I’m so excited to have this documentation of 2012.

As always, I hope you enjoy.

In the comments – how was your July? What were the highlights for you? Anything fun planned for August? I’d love to hear about your lives.

xo. Happy Monday.

June

What a month. Lots of new faces coming into my life, and lots of loved ones slipping out of it, onto bigger and better things! I had a fantastic June, full of dancing and eating and walking around, and being a tourist in my own city. I plan on spending my July in exactly the same way, if possible! I thought I’d share (in case you’re interested) the video version of June. Hope you enjoy! Happy Monday.
