Life

Spring, Sprung

The past few days have felt blissfully like summer. And if that weren’t enough, I got some absolutely thrilling news yesterday and I feel like I’m jumping on a trampoline next to the ocean while eating ice cream and pizza simultaneously. I’ll share the news asap, but just rest assured that I am furiously happy.

I’ve been celebrating the summer weather by wearing skirts, drinking fruit smoothies in the morning, incorporating Spring veggies into my diet, going for runs, having brunch with friends with the doors and windows wide open, drinking beer in the park at dusk, listening to great music, hanging out on busy patios, and soaking up the sun whenever possible.

It’s been a totally incredible weekend, and more great things just keep happening. I love Spring.

The Everyday

I love Instagram. Even though I haven’t been counting iPhone photos towards Project 365, I’ve still been trying to take pictures when I’m out and about, and little things in my daily life. This poster represents 2012 so far, and it makes me crazy happy everytime I look at it. I need to keep reminding myself to document the small details, the everyday – because I absolutely adore having those small memories to look back on. I should also probably start using the same filter every time I share a photo on Instagram, but I can’t help switching it up.. there’s just so much variety! And I love how they all look!

Here’s to the little things. Here’s to technology. Here’s to remembering the moments that make us happy. Here’s to a great weekend! Hope it’s not raining where you are. Happy Friday.

The “poster” is thanks to Printsgram, a great service that lets you organize your photos and save PDFs – for free!

My First Book!

This as a crazy moment. You should have seen me at the Post Office, picking up my slimmer-than-expected brown cardboard package, practically beaming with delight as I thrust my delivery notice at the bored cashier. I held it together until I got home, I definitely didn’t hyperventilate at the crosswalk or anything (okay, so I did. In a good way.), and then did a happy dance in my apartment. Cause it’s just cute, right?

This is the first book I wrote myself. It was a labour of love. And sometimes hate. There were times (they were usually way past my bedtime times) where I couldn’t express how much I resented my pre-November self who decided to take this project on. Other times, those 1667 daily words whizzed by – but those times were rare. But being able to hold a bound copy of my work, flip through and look at my words (half of which I no longer remember writing)…it makes it all worth it.

I printed a “proof copy” from CreateSpace – NaNoWriMo winners get 5 free copies of their novel, but only after paying for a proof copy – and guess what? I didn’t double and triple check the file, so my book showed up missing the last few pages. Let me emphasize: this was because of my own stupidity. CreateSpace couldn’t have been easier to use. So I’ve now uploaded the right file and will probably order another copy in the future.

How do you think my name looks in print? I’m hoping this won’t be the last time I author a real, tangible book. A belated thank you to everyone who egged me on during that crazy writing month – I’m thrilled it helped me get to this point. Thrilled, I say!

Have a happy Tuesday. xo.

Happy Anniversary!

I just realized that today marks a year to the day that I launched Life In Limbo on its own domain. March 7! (Here’s that very first post.) Wow. So much has happened in a year. It’s incredible how different I feel from the completely terrified girl who launched this website a year ago today. I’m blogging from a new apartment and a happier perspective. I’ve made some lovely Internet friends! I’ve had lots of unexpected (and positive) responses, and learned more than I dreamt I would in a year. I’ve dealt with Texan customer service agents from BlueHost, fixed bugs, Googled the crap out of things I didn’t know so that I could make this website everything I wanted it to be.

I want to THANK YOU. All of you. Anyone who is reading this. You have no idea how much it means to me that people enjoy + take something away from what I put up on the internet. It makes me furiously happy. I’d probably still be posting all my thoughts and photographs even if nobody was reading, but I’m still overjoyed every time I get a comment. (You have no idea how much each comment makes my day.) So to everyone reading: thanks, wholeheartedly.

Happy birthday, Life In Limbo. Keep on keepin’ on!

xo.

PS. March also marks three years since I started blogging here. Which seems crazy!
