Love the idea of a distraction-less phone. I’d say I’m 85% of the way there myself, but still have a ways to go. Excellent food for thought here.

As a person who is very bad at deciding what to have for dinner, this is definitely going to be my next tarot deck purchase!!!

I’ve been listening to audiobooks lately in an attempt to meet my Reading Challenge goal before the end of the year, and I have been thoroughly enjoying Sing, Unburied, Sing even though it is heart-wrenching.

I fed my budding interest in astrology this week by downloading Co–Star, an app that saves your birth chart and also shows you your compatibility with your friends (gasp emoji). It’s really fun, and also just helpful to stop forgetting all my signs.

I was super inspired by learning from Allyson, a makeup artist who gave my friend Sonja a makeup lesson for her birthday. Her Instagram is very fun & she’s the one who turned me on to the app above!

My friend Ameema is running an Instagram campaign called 12 Days of Diverse Christmas, where she recommends books daily in a variety of categories of diversity. It is SO cool and so enlightening and my to-read list is growing by the day with incredible-looking titles.

Last weekend I threw a drop-in strategy session for local entrepreneurs, which was incredibly inspiring. I wrote about the experience in my business newsletter, where I’m also announcing that I only have one spot left in my group strategy program! So exciting.

This week has been yet another blur – tomorrow is my last day with one of my long-time clients, so there has been a lot to do in order to make that transition feel smooth for my successor. I’ve also been (still) dealing with super low energy and lethargy, which I’m chalking up mostly to the cold greyness since my mood spiked on the days this week when we had sun! I can’t tell you how excited I am for an actual break, a full week or so off of work that I can just spend catching up on sleep, reading books, and processing all the crazy changes that my life has undergone over the past few months. So I’m planning to take a break from the blog too – I’ll be back with more inspiration on January 4th. Have an incredible holiday season & wishing you such a happy New Year. xo.

As part of my membership to The Quarterly, I got access to the Set Vision & Plan Change course, which is set up in such a cool way! I can’t wait to dive in and reflect on 2018 to plan for the year ahead.

Another year of Christmas gifts, another year of creating beautiful photo calendars for my family members! If you need a template, I swear by the ones from Paislee Press which I buy every year.

I loved this article about the joy of “no phones allowed”. I think that for better or for worse, we’re going to need to be creating more of these kinds of rules for ourselves to have the experiences we’re craving.

Great perspective pushing back against the constant self-helpy advice to get outside your comfort zone. “By recognizing and respecting my comfort zone, I can identify when a situation threatens my wellbeing. And by asserting my boundaries, I can get back from anxiety to a place where I feel psychologically safe and secure.”

Reminder: you don’t have a career, you have a life. We have to bring our full selves (and all our values) to everything we do, including work. Work is not a reason to leave those things at home.

How cute are these tarot cards of tech?? I love them, and the fact that they’re all about asking important questions.

Ooh, WordPress has a fancy new editor, so that’s kind of fun to explore as I write this! Life this week has been pretty slow, since I’ve been battling a gross cold and dealing with the frigid, dark cold days here in Toronto. We haven’t had any sun since Sunday! Bleh. That said, I have been taking the opportunity to go inwards a bit more, starting to reflect on 2018 and look ahead to 2019. Already I’m energized by the idea of a new start and some time to reset our lives to prepare for what’s coming. This weekend I’m going wedding dress shopping (!) with my friend Laura, and throwing a small drop-in strategy event for some local entrepreneurs! It should be a lot of fun. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.

Inspiration December 7 >> Life In Limbo

Last weekend I went to the Light Therapy exhibit at the MOCA here in Toronto. And it really helped! Would highly recommend, if there’s something similar where you live.

The Buffer Stories Creator lets you use other fonts besides what Instagram has on tap, but also looks easy and lightweight and you can do it from your desktop. Cool.

I’m launching a new group strategy program called The Foundery, and I’m going to try out using Twist for our group online communications instead of Slack. I’ve used Slack for a while and like it, but Twist looks calmer and more user-friendly for multiple questions & ideas.

I’m excited to be writing this while listening to this playlist of what are apparently the world’s most calming songs. You can read more about the study here, but ironically this page auto-played about 4 different videos at once, which was the exact opposite of calming.

I realized that I only have the rest of the month to read 10 more books for my reading challenge (ahh!) so this week I’ve been reading a few good ones: Beartown, It Doesn’t Have to Be Crazy At Work, Becoming and This Is Marketing.

I liked the concept of setting yourself micro-habits as a way of “casting votes for a new identity”. It reminds me of Sarah’s concept of bookmark or placeholder habits, which I also love.

In case you missed it, I started a newsletter for my business! You can read the first issue all about intentional business here & subscribe in the top-left corner.

As the week has gone on, I’ve felt more and more under the weather, both emotionally (we’ve mostly had grey, frigid days, with a bit of sun here and there) but also physically! I’ve got a sore throat, headache and runny nose, so it’ll be lots of fluids and sleep for me this weekend! Oh, and reading. There will be a lot of that too. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! xo.

Inspiration: November 30 >> Life In Limbo

This video clip filled me with so much joy. How talented are they?!

We all need ideas about how to save money on gifts this holiday season! This year, basically everyone on my list is getting books.

Speaking of money, I find Weathsimple’s Money Diaries super interesting and well-produced. This one with JVN is fun!

I felt like punching the air in excitement when I read this post from Seth this week. THIS is why systems and details matter so much.

Some of the coding stuff was over my head, but I liked this behind-the-scenes look at how Kai built Dense Discovery (one of my fave newsletters).

If you have any secret gift exchanges this holiday season, allow me to recommend this super simple online generator. I used it to set up a Secret Santa with my sisters and it’s way more fun not knowing whose name everyone drew!

This week The Vault launched its first print collection, On Healing! I am so proud to be a part of this magazine, and this collection is so beautiful.

It was lots of fun to tour Cobblestone Farm Retreat this week with Sonja and Laura and learn more about Sam, the owner. She is so cool and has had such an interesting life. Plus the house and dogs and horses are all beautiful!

Next Monday I’ll be sending out the first issue of my new business newsletter, Creative Support! It’ll be a monthly email sharing some business thoughts & strategies, what I’m up to, and things I love. It’s a different list than these Inspiration posts, so head over here to subscribe if you’re interested!

Last but not least, this week I was inspired by those little orange berries. How cute! You can read more about that here.

It was a slow week, and for that I am grateful. Apart from our day trip to the farmhouse, I had very few plans and lots of space in my days to get back to reality and feel grounded again. November has been FULL, in a good way, and it’s nice to be able to catch my breath and plan ahead for the rest of 2018. This weekend I have a few lovely low-key parties to go to, and otherwise am hoping to read and relax. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xo.
