One Second Everyday

One Second Everyday: 2025

Today is truly one of my favourite days of the year! It’s the day when I stitch together my one second everyday videos, add some music, and get to watch my year unfold in 365 sweet, fleeting little moments. It always feels so magical, and poignant, and lovely, and bittersweet.

And this year’s video really embodies what I love about this project: it’s everything everywhere all at once. It shows you just how quickly life can change, and just how much life fits into just a handful of days. For example: you see how quickly we go from a gorgeous celebration of love in sunny Jamaica to the sadness of a chilly hospital room to say goodbye to my beloved grandmother. You see (very) hard work days back to back with cute birthday celebrations, and gorgeous cookbook club dinners next to boring days spent at my desk. In a video, it all goes by fast enough to give you whiplash.

But mostly, I just love that this project helps me remember what our everyday life looked and felt like as the seasons changed. Of course it’s fun to remember the glamorous or exciting stuff, but it’s most meaningful (for me!) to see our cozy patio dinners, and ice cream dates, and trips to the dog park, and how the light changed in our living room in the afternoons. As someone with a terrible memory, these glimpses into daily life are what I cherish most.

2026 will be my tenth year (!) of doing this project, if you can believe it. A decade of daily documentation. And even though the videos are sometimes blurry and always very far from perfect, I don’t see myself stopping this project anytime soon.

Happy New Year, everyone! Sending you love & best wishes for an absolutely beautiful 2026.

xoxo,
Steph

One Second Everyday: 2024

I am so proud and happy and baffled to say that this is my EIGHTH year using the 1SE app to capture snapshots of my daily life. I actually cannot *believe* it’s been that long, but I also can’t imagine not having this yearly time capsule, so I’d say the habit has well and truly stuck for me. There isn’t much that makes me feel quite as nostalgic and grateful as watching back my year in seconds, and getting to feel & remember what life was like each year. Especially since I have a notoriously bad memory!

I’d say the thing that makes this practice so powerful and poignant for me is seeing just how quickly life can change. Three years ago, you can see the exact moment (to the day) that my life got taken over by Bruno. Last year’s video shows the heaviness I was feeling, and it also shows when it starts to lift. Amazing experiences are just a single sliver of time, but so are bad moments. It’s all passing fast, and I’m so happy that I’ve grabbed all these little bits to preserve and cherish forever.

This is also my official yearly plug that, if you think this looks fun, to DO YOUR OWN! You will not regret it!

Happy 2025, everyone. Sending you lots of love & wishing you another happy year of good memories and joy.

xoxo,
Steph

One Second Everyday: 2023

I’m so delighted to share my 1SE video for 2023. This is my seventh year completing this daily video project, and every year I do it I am beyond grateful to have this time capsule of my life. Those who know me know that my memory is fairly abysmal, so having little glimpses of what daily life looked like each day helps me remember and appreciate.

In every year (and every yearly video), there are lots of boring days where nothing much happens and you’re going through the motions. The challenge is to find what’s special about that day, or see something in your life in a new way that makes it feel special. And worst case? You capture the boring moment, and when life moves on and your everyday life looks completely different, you’ll be grateful for that snapshot. At least: I am. I always am.

So here is my life in 2023. Not always easy, but steadily building towards something beautiful.

One Second Everyday: 2022

This video makes my year look so fun and bright and colourful (which it was, at times!) but doesn’t show as much of the hard and sad and painful parts (which it also was!). Still, I’m grateful to have this time capsule of my year & feeling a lot more hopeful moving into 2023. ❤️

If you’ve ever considered doing 1SE, I *highly* recommend it. I watched back all of mine today (going back to baby Steph in 2016!!) and I cannot believe the change. Start! You will not regret it! 🙏🏼
