Project 365: Week 13

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know that I spontaneously decided to come home for my birthday/Easter! I’m thrilled that I did. Even though I have a big paper to write, and not long before exams, I won’t ever regret making a choice to spend time with my family. That’s an important lesson, and I’m glad I learned it, albeit at the last minute – I literally booked my train at 12:30 AM on Wednesday night, and left at 11:50 the next morning!

Today I had the pleasure of working on my essay with a lakefront view (thanks to the hospitality of my friend Isabelle!) and tonight I’ll get to have my first family dinner in a little while. I miss the quiet comfort of being surrounded by people sometimes, since I live alone.

Wishing you the happiest of Good Fridays.

March

And another one bites the dust. March is over! Time for the best month of the year, April. (I’m maybe a little biased). The greatest part of my “creative New Years Resolutions” – Project 365 and this video project – is that I get to document and preserve the special parts of my life. I don’t feel like it all goes by too quickly, I think it goes by just quickly enough. I get to fully experience each month, and then (with peace of mind, knowing that I’ve got it all on film) move onto the next.

A friend pointed out to me yesterday that she loved watching the three 2012 videos back-to-back, which to me is just another indication that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts (a theme in my life, I’m realizing). I’m so happy I chose to start this project. I will never regret it, and I will be thrilled to have it all on film.

I know you don’t know my friends, but maybe the video can inspire you or make you smile in some way. Enjoy.

Project 365: Week 12

Go girl.

I’m almost 3 months into Project 365. I can’t explain how amazing I feel about that. We’re turning the corner into April: final exams might make it a tough month for this project, but I’m still determined to take my daily photo. And during the summer? I have a feeling this project will be a cake walk – there’ll be so many beautiful, outdoorsy things to do and see.

Shooting the ice cream + cake post from yesterday was such a jubilant moment for me. I love food styling, I love that I’m slowly improving, and I love how the photos turned out. Love love love. Happy happy. Improvement of my photography is one of the reasons I took this project on. The other reason was to preserve everyday moments + beauty in my life. I think I’m succeeding at both!

Have a great day.

Project 365: Week 11

My current mantra regarding Project 365: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You see, I keep getting discouraged – I keep thinking things like “I totally half-assed Tuesday’s pictures. Did I really just take a picture of my Dad on Skype?”. But then, when I come online to do my weekly blog post of the photos, I get encouraged – I go “yay! I love all these photos, especially side-by-side.” I think there’s a deep lesson in here somewhere, but considering that all I can think about is going to go play outside in the sun while drinking iced coffee and eating ketchup-covered fries, I’m going to leave it at that. I’ll let you figure out the lesson, if there is one. (Doubtful.)

The HAPPIEST of Thursdays to you!
