So, I know it’s like a hipster thing. And I’m not really a hipster. But I read today on the blogs about Lomography, which is a style/love/type/lifestyle of photography. I was intrigued. And although I’m not currently in the market for a high quality camera (oh how I wish I were) I definitely think there’s lots to consider and wonder about on their website.
Such as the 10 Golden Rules. I will repost them for you now (via Lomography)
1. Take Your Camera Everywhere You Go.
2. Use it any time – day and night
3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, it’s a part of it.
4. Try the shot from the hip.
5. Approach the objects of your Lomographic desire as close as possible.
6. Don’t think.
7. Be fast.
8. You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film.
9. Afterwards either.
10. Don’t worry about any rules.

They’re useful and down to earth. I especially like number 8, because I always worry that when I get nice pictures it isn’t because of my own talent, and really just because of the luck of the draw. But maybe that’s what photography really is, at least at first, you just being there to capture whatever there is to be captured. Maybe you never have any talent in the beginning, and it comes with practice and encouraging chance shots that you come to love. That’s reassuring anyways, to me. And of course number one, since I continually intend to bring around my tiny little point-and-shoot but never whip it out.

That’s all for now folks, it’s getting late and I am in the plan of waking up asap tomorrow morning to commence the endless studying that always awaits me. Tonight I’m happy because I did well on my psych final, and stressed because of my physics and calculus finals. And chemistry, but we’re barely thinking about that one right now for fear of the 90% exam coming up.
