Best Bites

{Weeknightmushroom garlic pizza with extra goat cheese and green salad with sauteed onions and mushrooms}

I love to eat, as you can probably tell. I have a confession though: much of the recipes that make it to my blog are special-occasion kind of food. Weekend food. Food I make simply to delight my friends. (They deserve it, I have absolutely wonderful friends.) It’s food I want to learn how to make, experiment with, make look really pretty.

But it’s not what I spend most of my time eating. If this isn’t immediately obvious, I apologize. That’s sort of the problem with blogs: they only showcase the glossy, lovely aspects of our lives. Not the mundane, quiet parts. Most of the food I love is simple, unfussy, messy, not really fit for photographing (though I do anyway). Shall I give you a little peek?

One Hour Bread

As you may or may not remember, one of my New Year’s goals is to learn how to use yeast, and make 4 “bread-like” things from scratch. This is #2 (see #1 here!). And guess what? I am rapidly becoming a domestic goddess, making productive use of my spare time, and tricking people into being friends with me via temptation of freshly-baked goods. It’s a win-win-win scenario. Everyone is happy.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

A few days ago, I wrote an article outlining my views on the day of love, February 14th. Mainly, in my opinion, Valentine’s Day should be a day to celebrate love in all its forms: between family, friends, partners, pets… No sense being cynical. Nobody ever said that love can only be between a couple – you’re not alone on Valentine’s, no matter what! You have friends, parents, siblings that love you more than you could ever know. And I love you too! Thanks for always reading along with my blog, I feel so lucky to have so many great people in my life.

You can read the article (and get the recipe for these yummy treats) here.

Baked Egg Boats

I’ve learned so many things from Pinterest. I’ve learned how to transport cupcakes, how to fill a piping bag in the most mind-blowing way, how to keep earphone cords from tangling, how to get sand off your legs, how to keep an apple from browning.

I’ve been inspired by travel photos, gotten excited about clothes, and stumbled upon more beautiful-looking recipes than I know what to do with (I made THREE different boards to deal with all the food I’m inspired by..do I have a problem?).

If you’re not using Pinterest, what are you wasting your time on instead? {Let me know in the comments if you want an invite!}
