The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Life lately has been filled with so many splendid things. The boyfriend came to town for a short but lovely visit, bringing along a massive box for yours truly! (Inside was an ice cream maker – I’d jokingly asked for it in an article here, but didn’t expect to actually receive it! Very sweet.)

We spent the time that he was here spending some quality time together, decorating cookies, doing a little holiday shopping, exchanging gifts, sleeping in, and going to a really fun dinner with my sisters + their boyfriends too! That was fun, and we got to play some poker and Trivial Pursuit after as well. Cute.

How To Share Photos With Your Loved Ones

I tend to be the main photographer at family gatherings. This is because I have a wonderful camera that takes nice photos, and because I love snapping away and recording these events. I usually end up with some nice shots, and then the problem becomes: how best to share them? My family usually wants to see and download the pictures to be printed or saved, but it’s sometimes tricky to find the best way to accomplish that!

Emailing generally doesn’t work – attaching the photos takes a long time, and you can only send a couple in each email. I used to use primarily Flickr and Facebook, but my family has said that it’s time-consuming and increasingly difficult to download pictures off these websites. When you have grandparents who don’t love technology at the best of times, sending them confusing emails with five sentences of download instructions for Flickr pictures is not the best method! They’re not so good at the right click, options, download thing for each picture. They want one straightforward method to get the whole bunch.

So after Thanksgiving this year, I was determined to find a way to share my pictures that would let my family download them easily to their own computers and then look at them or print them however they’d like. I found a couple great solutions to this problem, which I’ll present in a hierarchy of needs! Enjoy, and happy sharing!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s Canadian Thanksgiving today! And although I had my big family dinner yesterday evening, and I’m on the train back to school right now, I don’t want to forget to give thanks, the way I oughta. What a great holiday, don’t you think? It’s a holiday specifically meant for gratitude and happiness. I love that! Even if you’re not a Canuck, I hope you’re blessed, happy and thankful today.

As for me…

Happy Holidays!

Christmas lights are appearing in strange places, decorations are popping up on dorm room doors, and there’s snow on the ground outside my window. I think it’s just about time to get excited for the holidays. And since I don’t really have a lot of time right now to go out and buy decorations (aka break from studying..) then I’ll just get into the spirit on my blog. Lame, huh? Well, the holiday dinner at the caf last week was festive. Rumour has it they served us wine and eggnog at our tables, and the menu was prime rib and ricotta-stuffed turkey rolls. Mmmhmm good. I’m happy they did that for us. :) Wish there had been a dance though! Haha.

I was thinking about this blog post and was unsure what all to write. But I’ve decided on what seems to be a bit of a blog cliché, which is helping readers brainstorm gift ideas for their loved (or not-so-loved) ones. Whatever, it’s a fun idea, so as overdone as it might be, here’s my take.

…So that’s it on the gift front. Not sure about how much, if any of that I will be buying for the people on my list, I’m so broke! I might try to make them all some jam or something instead and put in the effort instead of the dollar dollar bills.

Got through my first exam unscathed (I think). It went well enough that I feel good about it, it wasn’t a giant slap to the face, so that’s enough for me. The studying commenced today for the next two possible injuries: physics and calculus. I think I can pull them off, easily as long as I keep working hard. That’s what I keep telling myself at least.

Only 12 days until I’m home! Can you believe it?!? So, so excited.

xoxo, S.

ps. It’s supposed to snowstorm tomorrow. It’d be nice to have a quiet, warm, pampered, tea-filled study day in my room for a change. The library is starting to get to me.
